The hammer came down sharply,
The murmuring grew quiet,
Creation was on trial tonight,
A judgement was in sight.
The scientist and the Christian stand,
Both up before the beak,
The scientist says "a billion years",
The Christian says "a week"
The scientist says, "It's very clear
Just how all this began".
The Christian says "Oh God did that",
The scientist says "A Bang!"
"I believe", the scientist says,
"That all our life and motion,
Started out some time ago
In a filthy great explosion"
"It's all been proved , I promise you,
M' Lud It's really true
That you and I were formed like this
From some primeval goo."
"The fish has fins, a cat has legs,
You see we're all connected.
I've studied fish, I look at them,
While they've been all dissected"
"And so from this", the Christian said,
"You see a common purpose,
Of nature that accepts the best
And disregards the worst-est."
"To me it says, that life's design
Was done by one great being,
Who knew the best design from go,
All knowing and all seeing".
The scientist then, he thought a while
And said, "My Lud it's real
That we all came from chemicals,
That long ago congealed."
"A bit of this, a bit of that,
The chemicals attached
And hey presto that is how
Our life was born from scratch!"

The Christian said, "I do declare
That is the best one yet,
The chance of that thing happening,
Makes lottery a safe bet"
Scientist said, "Perhaps you're right
But plain as ' nose on ' face
I do believe that life we know
Was dumped on us from space."
"That may be true", the Christian said,
The scientist said "you what?"
"That life may come from outer space,
Come, let's see what you've got"
The scientist cleared his throat and said,
"Life here is far too complex
It must have come from outer space,
Ready made and packaged.
"I see your point," the Christian said,
"That God's not the creator
But we all started from a box,
inside a star container"
"Yes! Yes! that's it, I knew that I
would show you what is right
That talk of God, is out of date,
Let science now be your light
The Christian said, "I think you're right,
Just one small hesitation
How did this life, from outer space,
Start. What's its creation?"
......(wait)....
The scientist, look around him,
An answer he had none
The Christian quietly praising
At the victory God'd won
The scientist looked up slowly
and said.........
"M' Lud, this really is authentic"
That we, no wait.... wait.........................." |
